On Tuesday 13th November a group of 17 Year 11 pupils arrived at Belfast International Airport to travel to London Gatwick. We arrived and checked into the Troy hotel. We then made our way to Oxford Street and visited shops such as Primark, Hamley’s in Regent Street and M&M world in Leicester Square. Later we had dinner and made our way to the Prince Edward Theatre in the West End to watch ‘Aladdin The Musical’.
We woke up the next morning and the sun was shining. We walked through Hyde Park and arrived at Buckingham Palace. After many photos were taken we walked through Horse Guards Parade and on down to Downing Street and Westminster. There we crossed the bridge and went for a flight on the London Eye which had amazing views of the London skyline. After lunch we boarded the Thames Clipper for a cruise to the O2 Arena to watch the ATP World Tour Tennis Finals. We saw many amazing players such as Novak Djokovic and John Isner.
On Thursday we walked to Baker Street where we visited the wax museum at Madame Tussaud’s. We saw many famous people such as the Royal Family, politicians, sports stars and even YouTube bloggers. Afterwards we had the opportunity to visit Covent Garden where there were lots of street entertainers and interesting market stalls and shops. Dinner was at Planet Hollywood and then we saw ‘Disney’s The Lion King’ at Lyceum theatre.
On our final day we visited the All England Lawn and Tennis Club at Wimbledon. We were given a guided tour of the grounds and saw the Behind the scenes at the TV studios and Number 1 court. Murray Mound was smaller than it looks on TV. We all thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
We would like to thank Mrs Greer, Mrs Mills, Mrs Redpath and Dr Greer for taking us to London and putting up with us on this wonderful trip.
