Introduction

GCSE Leisure, Travel and Tourism allows students to develop an understanding of sustainable development and environmental issues connected to travel and tourism.

Students learn about diversity and different cultures. They examine different types of tourism and the factors that influence the choice of leisure, travel and tourism activity. Safety and security measures for travellers are increasingly relevant. Students examine the precautions and security measures implemented to keep travellers safe in our modern society.

One of the units examines working in the leisure, travel and tourism industry and the different roles available. Students also look at how technology has affected the industry, from online booking and check-in systems, to using social media and smartphone apps.
