Many congratulations to the Year 10 pupils who took part in Bloomfield’s our fourth annual Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) final on Friday 13th May. The afternoon marked the culmination of months of hard work from all of our Year 10 LLW classes.
Through the YPI programme, small teams of pupils are given the opportunity to identify a local charity they believe deserve recognition for their work in the community. After researching and meeting with their chosen charity the girls must pitch a presentation in front of a panel of judges. The team which impresses the judges most wins a grant of £3,000 for their charity.
This year 8 teams made it through to the final stage and the standard of presentations was as impressive as ever. A wide range of small charities were represented including Shelterbox, MACS, Mindwise, The Cedar Foundation, Brave Hearts NI, Belfast Central Mission and the MS Society. However it was the team representing the National Deaf Children’s Society which eventually won the plaudits from the judging panel and the £3,000 cheque for the NDCS. Well done to Luice Y, Shannon J, Rachel K, Ewa G, Leah M and Rebecca S who now go on to take part in the Northern Ireland YPI Celebration at Queen’s University next month.
