Ski Trip

Twenty three enthusiastic pupils headed off from The George Best Belfast City Airport on Saturday 31st March on route for the annual ski trip to Ehrwald, Austria.

A plane and coach journey later we arrived at the Hotel Sonnenberg, which was to be our home for the next seven days. Once we had unpacked and been fitted with our skis, boots and helmets it was off to bed in preparation for a fun packed week on the slopes.

It was an early start on Sunday morning but nobody complained as we were eager to get going. The short gondola ride from the foot of the mountain to the slopes provided an opportunity to fully wake up and take in the spectacular views. A brief assessment of ability saw our group split into three, the more advanced skiers working with Marc and the beginners with Petra and Simona.

Everyone made great progress throughout the six days skiing which was finished off with a downhill slalom race. It was a very exciting way to top off an enjoyable week, showing off our skills. Each participant was awarded a medal and certificate at the presentation evening later that night which also provided an opportunity to thank our instructors.

Evenings were spent around the hotel making full use of the entertainment with some swimming, air rifle shooting and shopping also included. Ehrwald was a beautiful village with breathtaking views and everyone enjoyed their week away.
