The Kids in Control and Bloomfield partnership has had another successful year. Several girls in Years 12, 13 and 14 have been involved in a Wednesday night project in the Lyric Theatre with students from Glenveagh School along with the “Physical Graffiti” and “Adventures in Human Being” groups on Saturdays to prepare for the very successful March shows. Shortly after this, the Wednesday night group got the chance to appear on a billboard for Power NI.

Over the summer we had amazing opportunities such as dementia awareness training, working with the “Blue Chevy” group for disabled adults and performing at the Bounce Festival in early September.

The Saturday groups prepared for a Culture Night performance featuring well known songs such as “Creep” by Radiohead and “Radioactive” by Imagine Dragons. All the pieces were created by the volunteers and peer leaders of the groups, but everyone in the group had an input which made everyone excited to come back every single week and rehearse.

Several girls also had the opportunity to perform one of those pieces at Stormont on World Mental Health Day. We are looking forward to another amazing year.
