Bookbuzz Initiative

Library News - Buzzwords

Years 8 and 9 have this term taken part once again in the Bookbuzz initiative.

This is run by the charity Booktrust and is aimed at encouraging pupils to read for pleasure by offering them a book of their own from a choice of 12, covering a variety of genres in order to provide as wide-ranging a choice as possible.

The most popular titles this year were Narinder Dhami’s exciting thriller “13 Hours” and Pamela Butchart’s novel “Petunia Perry and the Curse of the Ugly Pigeon”.  All 12 books on offer were chosen at least once.

Year 8 have performed well in their Accelerated Reader programme – lots of reading and quizzing, with the most popular 3 books this term being “Gangsta Granny” and “Mr Stink” by David Walliams and the ever-popular “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” by Roald Dahl.  8Q are to be congratulated on winning the class competition with a fantastic grand total of 503 stars – well done!  All of Year 8 can look forward to their Roald Dahl day in January and the whole school can enjoy the Book Fair in February.
