One of the highlights in our school calendar is when our friends from Tor Bank Special School visit us and treat us to a Christmas extravaganza. A team of three Year 14 Bloomfield students, plus our Chamber choir, worked with Tor Bank students for several weeks in advance of the performance, ensuring everything was well-rehearsed for the big day.
Nerves were running high on the morning of the show but after a quick rehearsal, all the performers were keen to get started and the audience were waiting excitedly at the doors to the Assembly Hall.
Once again, the students from Tor Bank, assisted by our Sixth Form students, Chamber choir and Mrs Mark, put on a show-stopping performance that included singing, dancing, signing, acting, poetry recital and, of course, comedy, this year in the form of knock-knock jokes. As usual, we all joined in for the singing and signing of Jingle Bells after the Tor Bank students gave us a quick reminder of the Makaton signs. Some Bloomfield students had been spotted practising beforehand as this has become an annual event!
I particularly enjoy watching Year 8 see the Christmas joint-production for the first time, and seeing them start to develop an understanding of how much the collaboration between Tor Bank and Bloomfield Collegiate means to both schools.
Bring on the next show!
