On the 13th of September 2022, Lucy McC (14R), Flo F (14Q) and Rachel McC (12R) were invited to attend the Service of Reflection to commemorate the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II held at St Anne’s Cathedral.
They are volunteers at the Walkway Community Association who previously received the Queens Award for Voluntary Service, and were part of a group of 10 selected to attend.
They were invited to be a part of the private viewing area outside the service where they spoke to the media and saw senior figures such as Irish President Michael D. Higgins, Taoiseach Micheál Martin, UK PM Liz Truss, King Charles III and his wife Camilla, the Queen Consort, as well as many senior Northern Irish politicians.
The pupils recognised the historical and cultural significance of such an event and were proud and honoured to be representing both their community and their school in offering their condolences to King Charles III and remembering the life of the late Queen.
