Rosemary Rainey OBE

Rosemary Rainey attended Bloomfield Collegiate School from 1949 to 1963, graduated in English & Latin from Queen’s University in 1967 and obtained a Diploma in Education in 1968. In 1974 she obtained a Diploma in Management from the University of Ulster.

In 2012, Rosemary was awarded the OBE in the Queen’s New Year Honours’ list for her dedicated and impressive services to education in Northern Ireland.

She was Senior Teacher and Head of English Department in Orangefield Girls Secondary School and Orangefield High School, retiring in 1995. Since 2002, she served as a Board Member of the Belfast Education and Library Board, chairing the Audit and Risk Management Committee and the Teaching Appointments Committee, before becoming Chairperson of the Board in January 2010.

She was appointed as a member of the Education Authority Board in 2015.
