Hi, my name is Rebecca, and I am in the 8R form class.
It does not seem that long ago that I was in your choices coming to see all the schools and deciding which one was the best for me. I went to Braniel Primary school which is quite a small school with only 2 classes per year. I know moving to Bloomfield was going to be a bit of a change. I soon got used to the amount of people and moving between lessons.
My form teacher is called Mrs Calvert. She is so kind and helpful. My 6th form mentors are called Hannah and Julie. They are really good at making everyone feel included and I really enjoyed participating in their Thursday quizzes. All the teaches are great and supportive, they are always willing to answer questions. On the first day it was quite relaxed. We took a tour around the school, played some “get to know you” games and much more. After that we slowly started to ease into lessons seeing what we will learn about during this year. Personally, I thought I was not going to like most subjects, but it turns out, I love them. It is so fascinating learning about several types of rivers or words in a different language. The top subject for me must be French closely followed by Geography. I had never studied these subjects before which makes it even more special learning them.
One of my favourite memories of Bloomfield so far is going on the Crawfordsburn trip. I loved all the fun activities and spending time with my new friends. Also among my favourites are the house activities. I am in the house called Walker like my mum was but there are also Clarke, Spencer and Curran.
There is also so many clubs you can join if you decide to come here. I have joined junior choir, SU and languages. They are all fun and I loving going to them. At Christmas we had a carol service, which I took part in, at St Columba’s Church. That was a brand new experience for me, and I really enjoyed being part of the school family.
Bloomfield offers a wide range of music tuition, and I am carrying on with violin which I started learning in primary school. I have loved starting my journey at Bloomfield and I hope lots of you will choose to join our school in the next couple of years.
I might see you later if you come into the Geography or the Biology departments.
Thank you for listening!
