Thursday 13th October saw the culmination of the House Poetry Competition in honour of National Poetry Day 2022. KS3 pupils had been writing poems on the theme of ‘the environment’ through the week and submitted their entries to be judged by a panel of A-level English students.
The Drama room was brightly decorated in the colours of each of the four houses and the excitement was palpable as each of the entries read their poems aloud to an audience of their peers and the judges.
The poems reflected a sense of real passion from the students about the protection and conservation of the environment, and pupils particularly enjoyed the sense of competition and legitimacy that came from the event.
Ms Elser commented that she was ‘delighted to feel the enthusiasm of our BCS students’, with our first major house event of the school year a tremendous success and setting a great precedent for what is to come for the rest of the year.
