On Thursday 29th March ten Year 13 pupils competed in the regional finals of the European Youth Parliament. In this debating competition Pupils become an MEP for the day and discuss issues of prevalence within the EU. Bloomfield Collegiate became the Committee for Agriculture and Rural Development and undertook the task of promoting innovation and research to grow the Agri-Food industry. Many other issues were also debated, for example how can governments reduce the impact of Wiki Leaks, should a single common European language be adapted and how the EU can foster positive relationships with the new governments of Arab Spring nations? Having been successful in the regional final the pupils now have the opportunity to become UK champions in September when they compete in the national final in Liverpool.
